‘The Voice UK’ will likely remain familiar after move to ITV
This weekend, the remaining contenders on “The Voice UK” are going to take the stage in hopes of impressing not just their coaches, but also all of Britain. From here the field will be trimmed even further, and the remaining artists will have a chance to compete for the grand prize in the finale … which is at least an attempt at a recording career. That does not actually mean that they are going to have one, as we have seen so many times in the past.
However, there is something different about this season: It’s the last on the BBC. Following this we’re going over to ITV, and with the move, there are of course questions regarding precisely what we are going to see from here. Will the coaches be the same? It’s hard to tell, but the one thing we do know is that the show will have roughly the same sort of format that it has through five years in Great Britain.
Per the Radio Times, here is what one source close to the subject matter had to say:
“That show’s been bought because it’s that show. Why change it? Ultimately, it’s not the X Factor, it’s a different show.”
Fundamentally, we think that the structure of the show should stay the same, albeit with little tweaks. For one, why do the Blind Auditions need to be more than half the show? We’d reduce those, have more live shows, and put the focus more so on finding a star than throwing someone out after the fact who viewers will barely remember.
