‘American Idol 15’ finalists Trent Harmon, Dalton Rapattoni, La’Porsha Renae not touring together

Over the years the “American Idol” tour has been a quintessential part of the show experience, and has been something that many of the show’s finalists get a chance to do over the course of a summer to bond and please many of their fans all over America.

However, it would be wrong to say that the tour in recent years was anywhere near the monster it once was. The past several years have been marred with small-venue performances and even at times cancellation; the interest hasn’t quite been there, and with the show ending this year, it is clearly not something that 19 Entertainment and their parent company CORE Media necessarily felt the need to do again. There is no tour this year, and the finale coming up in one week’s time will really be the end of the road for the show.

In a statement, where is what they had to say:

“The American Idol Live Tour has historically been an integral part of celebrating the seasons’ contestants and also garnering excitement for summer auditions for the upcoming season … This year’s Idol finale celebrates the past 15 seasons, the amazingly talented participants, and the millions of fans who’ve helped make American Idol the legendary program and brand it is today. It will be so memorable and meaningful, and we’ve chosen to end it on that note.”

Do we think that this is the right decision? Probably, and most because we like the idea of the likes of La’Porsha Renae, Trent Harmon, and Dalton Rapattoni being in control of their own destiny sooner. Sometimes we felt in the past like these contestants could be off working on their own music sooner, but were preoccupied due to going around the country on the tour.
