‘Chicago PD’ season 3, episode 20 preview: When will Sophia Bush, cast return?

Chicago PD -Tonight, “Chicago PD” aired an episode that definitely marked many of the show’s calling cards: There was drama, intensity, and a variety of other significant developments.

Unfortunately, we’re now going to be stuck waiting for quite a while to see precisely what is coming up next on the show. There is no new episode airing on NBC next week; as a matter of fact, there’s not going to be one potentially until we roll around to Wednesday, April 27. Update: Actually, we know now that it is Wednesday, May 4.

What’s the reason for this? The only one that we can reasonably think of for the time being is this: It’s NBC’s way of storing up on episodes until we get around to the May sweeps. That is when NBC’s ratings are really going to mean the most to them, and it’s also when some of the biggest episodes of the entire season could air.

While details are unclear on the end of the season, we can tell you about one thing that you’re seeing for certain: The backdoor pilot to “Chicago Justice.” While it is not confirmed as of yet that NBC is going to order this as the latest installment to the franchise, we are feeling fairly strongly for now that they are at least leaning in the direction of adding it to the roster. We’ve seen a tiny bit more of the prosecution on “Chicago PD” as of late, and we have to think that there is a very particular reason why this is taking place. It’s almost a subtle reminder of what is coming.
