NBC’s ‘The Voice’ review: Tamar Davis, Adam Wakefield help keep Knockout Rounds rockin’

The Voice -

The Knockout Rounds continued on “The Voice” Tuesday night, as the latest batch of hopefuls all hit the stage in hopes of trying to deliver on some of the expectations created on Monday night. While we haven’t seen all of the episode so far, we have enjoyed much of what we’ve seen so far.

As per usual with this show, we’re going to have some other updates and quick-takes as the night goes on.

Adam Wakefield defeats Peyton Parker, Team Blake – We didn’t feel that this was so much about what Peyton did wrong as what it was that Adam did right. He just delivered consistently from start to finish on everything that Blake Shelton would want in a contestant. He’s got great vocal ability, a good presence, and it’s right in Blake’s alley of people he loves to coach.

Moushumi defeats Nick Hagelin, Team Pharrell – Compared to many of the knockout performances we saw over the course of last night, this one was a little disappointing. We think that Moushumi was probably a little bit better on the standpoint of vocals, but she needs to have a little more fire on the stage than what we saw here to have a chance of making it deep into the live rounds.

Tamar Davis defeats Maya Smith, Team Christina – We close at least with a fairly-close battle here between two really solid singers, but on the basis of screen time alone it felt fairly obvious that we were going to see Tamar take this one. She’s had the sort of edit of a live-show participant for a long time! One of the big bummers here is that with so many steals the first night, it was obvious during the show that we were saving the last one for Monday.
