Is ‘Castle’ season 8, episode 16 new tonight on ABC?
While ABC is doing for the most part a good job now of running continuous new episodes of “Castle” throughout the late winter and early spring, we are getting a slight break in the action tonight. There is no new installment; instead, “Heartbreaker” will air in one week’s time. It is an Esposito-heavy episode, and Angelica Celaya (“Constantine”) will be guest-starring as a woman from his past who becomes involved in a new case. You can see a first-look photo for that above!
As for the reason why there’s no new episode of the show airing tonight, there’s not really any clear reason other than just that the network wants to keep as many new episodes as they can going into the months of April and May. This would ensure that they have seven more installments in their arsenal provided that this season is 22 episodes, and that’s a lot of story that they can tell. What the network is doing for the time being is airing tonight a repeat of “The Catch” premiere, obviously an attempt to get some more sampling for a show that had sort of a ho-hum ratings start following “Scandal” last week.
Moving forward on “Castle” this season, you can expect some fun character-driven stories, and then eventually a few answers to the question that has been driving Beckett for most of the season: Can she stop LokSat? With Rick and Kate being more on the same page, they may be able to pool their resources for the forces of good as opposed to letting LokSat get the upper hand.

Buddy, You need to go to ABC Castle news and check out the article, On ABC’s Castle the only solution left is to Drink dated 3/31/2016. It hits the nail on the head of what happened to Castle, from episode 23 of season 6 until now

Georgee, I cannot totally disagree with you. Likewise, I cannot understand why LokSat has been given the hype it has been given and have nothing of substance, basis or sense. But, I think the series would have a better chance of survival to get LokSat out of the way and have nothing but weekly stand alone episodes like we had at the beginning of the series to carry us through to the end of this season. Then if the show runners carry through with the same sort of stand alone episodes the show might last for several more seasons. It is the inane long story lines that began with 6×23 that are killing the show.

The most important case is LokSat. It started with 6×23 and now we are at 8×16 and nobody knows squat about it. The first 5 minutes or more of 8×16 should be used to bring THE FANS, Vikram, Kate and Castle up to speed and together on the present status of LokSat and to give Vikram the new assignment of discovering the plane that landed at an LA airport two hours before Castle was shot. Then and only then should they delve into Espisito’s love life and the current murder case. And they wonder why the fans get bored and quit watching.

episode 16 is when finally Kate moves back in with her husband, that what the main focus should be. Her moving back in is big for the fans something we all have been waiting for since the train wreck of episode 2. I want to see her and Lucy talk about Castle. Espisito has always been a major part of Castle, but this time he should be secondary part.

Georgee, I still believe that about five minutes should be spent getting together on LokSat. Then when that very important relationship (that they are together again and love each other, believe each other and trust each other) is cemented between Castle and Beckett there can be, and should be, a celebration of Beckett moving back in with Castle (to include a little naked punishment). Done correctly all of this could be done in about ten minutes or slightly more leaving about thirty minutes to handle the new case.

ABC wizards of scheduling are tossing Castle fans into the dumpster again, we are getting use to it we been in there a lot this year. NCIS LA is getting to look a lot like Castles in seasons 4-7. If you get a chance you might want to look at Stana Katic web site.

It sure seems like ABC has given up on Castle. This scheduling isn’t a way to increase ratings, just the opposite, like their burning off episodes.
