NBC’s ‘The Voice’ preview: Hannah Huston performs for Miley Cyrus, Pharrell Williams
On tomorrow night’s edition of “The Voice,” the Knockout Rounds are going to be here, and with that we have our official debut of Miley Cyrus as the key adviser for this round. It’s a role the Chris Martin, Taylor Swift, Rihanna, and others have held in the past, and basically their role amounts to coming on and spending a few minutes trying to help every artist.
We were interested to see how Miley was going to far even before we knew that she was going to be a coach on the fall season of the show, but now that we know that, we are definitely a little bit more intrigued than we would have been otherwise. Obviously she must have done a good job here for the producers to consider her for a coaching gig, and we know that she’s more than capable of bringing everything from humor to real insight to the table thanks to her lengthy experience in the music industry. She knows what works, and how to captivate a crowd.
The contestant that she specifically helps out here is Hannah Huston, who is trying to deliver with an excellent cover of “The House of the Rising Sun.” Why is this song done on so many different reality shows? One of the simplest answers we can give you for that is that this is the sort of number that is extremely easy for almost any network to license, and it also has such a wide range of opportunities for singers to hit big notes. That’s why we’ve heard Kimberly Nichole and so other people do a great job with it in the past.
As you can see, Hannah does an excellent job in her own right with it, and given that NBC is hyping up her performance in advance, we have to be at least somewhat optimistic that she’ll move on to the next round.
