‘Scorpion’ season 2, episode 21 review: Walter starts dating, Tim and Paige grow closer
With Tim Armstrong joining team “Scorpion”, Walter has more to worry about then if Cabe is developing a father/son type relationship with Tim – there’s clearly some chemistry going on between Tim and Paige and if Walter isn’t going to step up to the plate then this romance could be a reality. Now that Toby and Happy are dating and the ban on inter-office dating has been lifted, we aren’t really sure why Walter and Paige didn’t decide to date and if she does decide to date Tim then we really don’t know what’s going on. Let’s see how this new relationship unfolds.
Tim is playing the arcade game Proton Arnold in the Scorpion garage and is very close to beating Walter’s high score. Walter is incredibly threatened by this idea and once it happens he can’t wrap his head around it. Toby starts poking fun at Walter about losing the high score and Tim tries to tell Walter that he’s not competing with him, but everyone knows that he is.
Linda comes back to the garage and she decides to ask Walter on a date after she initially said no after the bomb explosion a few episodes back. She tells him that she has been thinking about him a lot and wants a second chance to go out with him. Walter doesn’t ask her out, but she asks him to call her and he says he will. Toby suggests that he goes out with Linda because Tim and Paige are getting closer and it will ease the pain when she eventually does go out with Tim. Walter does call Linda later and leaves her a the most awkward message ever to arrange the date and seeing that inspires Tim to ask Paige on a date and she accepts.
The case of the week had the whole group in serious danger of being killed by a massive tornado. In fact we had Walter and Paige stuck at the edge of the tornado being sucked up into the air as Walter held onto a tree with one hand and Paige with another. If she chooses Tim as the man she wants after a heroic move like this then this girl needs to give her head a shake.
It was nice to see more of Ralph tonight too as he presented his project to his University class. He had a very advanced presentation that his professor “didn’t understand” and gave him his first failing grade, but when Walter needs Ralph to use his project to save them we had a really nice moment between Walter and Ralph. This is a relationship that we could watch for hours. We will be seeing more of Ralph coming up since his professor stole his idea for his own and they are going to sue him. Also… Toby mentioned marriage to Happy and told her to start thinking about it. We are all thinking about it Toby! Episode grade: A-

Dry ice – if you stretch the theory, it makes sense. But, as it has been stated before, this is TV, and I am going to let go of a bit of the unbelievable science parts so I can enjoy watching the show.
I did like the heart that the case brought and the lesson Walter learned about closure and why it is necessary. Yet, I wish that the other characters’ EQ struggles came up just a tad bit more. Yes, I agree with Happy’s observation, there was a problem with Walter having his sister’s ashes in a coffee can. But, I am surprised she of all people didn’t struggle more with the closure aspect of the case, since she and Walt are the most alike on the team in terms of their robotic, mechanical approach to things (maybe Toby’s rubbing off on her more than she realizes…) That being said, why were they bringing up this kind of case now? I thought that Walter had found closure when he sent his sister’s ashes into space three months ago.
Poor Ralph… I did enjoy seeing him this episode!!! And one of my favorite moments from the show this season was his embarrassed description of Sly’s visible excitement for his presentation. The poor boy, but even being a part of a genius family means that there’ll be some embarrassing moments now and again. That is what makes this show fun.
A marriage proposal? I think it’s a bit soon, but I am a huge Quintis fan. Thus, I don’t care!!! But contrary to someone’s observation, I would not call Happy’s reaction pure indifference. Maybe partly so, but I think she was also trying to save face when Toby asked her if she would mourn for him if he left her so soon. That surprised her, but I think might’ve scared her just a bit. She cares, but has an interesting way of showing it.
