‘Black Sails’ season 4: Premiere date speculation and more for Starz drama
We hope that you are getting excited for the “Black Sails” season 3 finale on Starz Saturday night, and there is every reason in the world why you should be. This show has delivered through three seasons relentless action, drama, romance, and a variety of other surprises, while still following at least some lines of pirate history. It’s become the definitive pirate tale in TV history by our estimation, and few others have tried anything with this sort of ambition and scope.
So while you prepare for the finale / while you unwind from it (this all depends on when you are reading this article), be assured of one thing: This is far from the end of the road for the series. Starz renewed the show for a fourth season some time ago, and this is something that they always tend to do long in advance here given that there is such a long production cycle for making this happen, and there are many challenges it has that others do not.
As for when it could premiere, January 2017 is obviously the safest bet. This is when the show has found great success in the past in the winter, and it has also shown great consistency premiering on January 25 (season 1), January 24 (season 2) and January 23 (season 3). With this in mind, it is perfectly reasonably to think that, given this is a leap year, the show could return on January 21. Or, if they decide to push things back a week, January 28 is another possibility.
We imagine that we’ll have plenty of opportunities to talk about that further in the months ahead, but rest assured that the saga of these characters is far from over.
