ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 5 spoilers: The election’s in full force!

This season on “Scandal,” it’s really not going to take too long at all for us to get closer to the big election. (If only the real election season was so quick.) We’ve seen a variety of contenders so far, with each one of them bringing their own big personalities and ideologies to the table. In one corner, you’ve got a guy in Hollis Doyle who certainly has some Donald Trump leanings. Meanwhile, you also have Mellie Grant, Governor Vargas, and Vice President Susan Ross all competing for some sort of political power in their own right. Things are going to be crazy, and we really don’t see that changing anytime soon.

So where is the show going to go on the upcoming April 7 episode when it comes to the election? Here is what we can tell you for now: The title is “Thwack!”, and the synopsis below hints at a few major developments courtesy of a leak. If there was ever a great way for things to be shook up, this may be it:

“The election is in full swing, which means everyone is doing their best to take down their opponents, but when a potential leak threatens several candidates, they have to work together to keep their secrets safe. Boundaries are pushed and lines are crossed as we find out just how far some people are willing to go to protect themselves.”

What is the most interesting thing clearly to us is mostly the prospect of having to see some of these people work together, who have spent so much time tearing each other down.
