‘Criminal Minds’ season 11, episode 18 video: Longer look at Shemar Moore in ‘A Beautiful Disaster’

In just over one day from the time of this writing, “Criminal Minds” is going to be returning to CBS for what may be the most powerful episode of the entire season. “A Beautiful Disaster” is the title, and based on the cliffhanger that was established between Morgan and Savannah, we know that something big is going to be coming.

The extended preview gives you somewhat of a sense as to the danger that is coming, and we also feel like it’s rather interesting that Morgan is not at the center of the photo above. The good news is that going into the hour, we do know for certain that Shemar Moore’s character is going to be alive. We see him in too many interactions here to think otherwise. On the flip side of that, there is certainly no guarantee that he will stay that way when the story ends. Him saying “baby girl” to Garcia in a state of emotional disarray is the sort of thing we’re probably going to have a hard time watching for many months to come.

Just to give this episode a little bit of extra weight, here is another reminder that cast member Kirsten Vangsness co-wrote “A Beautiful Disaster” with showrunner Erica Messer; meanwhile, Matthew Gray Gubler sat in the director’s chair for the installment. Clearly, this is an episode that the cast all cared about deeply, given that they all wanted to be involved in it in a close, intimate way.
