NBC’s ‘The Voice’ review: Alisan Porter, Abby Celso, Mike Schiavo, and more battle

VoiceTonight, the Battle Rounds continued on “The Voice” … not that we’re really excited about it. That’s no real slam on the singers tonight, since many of them were very good. We’re just personally wishing that we were already at the Knockout Rounds so that we could see the artists in more of their element.

As per usual with these articles, we’re going to refresh them as time goes by. Be sure to check back soon for more!

Adam Wakefield defeats Jared Harder, “Can’t You See” by The Marshall Tucker Band (Team Blake) – Adam’s win was telegraphed here almost from the start when he had the big, super-dramatic intro video talking a little bit about his musical history. His voice also was smooth and a little more mainstream than we expected. Adam may be able to draw a crossover crowd.

Emily Keener defeats Jonathan Bach, “Explosions” by Ellie Goulding (Team Pharrell) – This was really proof to us of two separate things: Pharrell really knows talent, and Jonathan was montaged for a reason. We didn’t love Emily’s audition, but she showed here that she has the drive and a work ethic to go far.

Daniel Passino defeats Kristen Marie, “Turning Tables” by Adele (Team Chrisitna) – In the steal department, this definitely has to be one of the more boring episodes we’ve seen so far. It’s also one that we have a hard time disagreeing with the coaches. Daniel had everything that we would look for in a coach here, and understandably was pushed through.

Montage Time – Moushumi defeated Jonathan Hutcherson, Katherine Ho defeated Lily Green, and Angie Keilhauer defeated Teresa Guidry. We really wish NBC would at least put these online…

Abby Celso defeats Brian Nhira, “Sugar” by Maroon 5 (Team Adam) – Great publicity in here for Maroon 5! Also, a very good performance for both of them. It was clear almost from the beginning that Brian would be getting something out of this, and he has now in the form of a steal! This one felt appropriate; he sang a song that Adam Levine has done many times, and it only made sense that he would pick him. Great overall.

Caroline Burns defeats Mike Schiavo, “Like I’m Gonna Lose You by Meghan Trainor” (Team Adam) – This Battle annoyed us, mostly because we thought that Mike was the better performer by a pretty wide margin, and this was almost more of Adam picking someone based on potential because it has worked for him in the past. Oh well.

Alisan Porter defeats Lacy Mandigo, “California Dreamin'” (Team Christina) – There was zero doubt as to where Christina was going here. Alisan was the frontrunner here, and probably will be until the finale. For Lacy, she should just celebrate getting a steal. She’s now on Team Blake.
