‘Chicago PD’ spin-off pilot ‘Chicago Justice’ adds ‘Law & Order’ alum as guest star
How about this as an example of Dick Wolf not forgetting just how far his shows have come?
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Lorraine Toussaint is going to be guest-starring in the upcoming “Chicago PD” backdoor pilot for “Chicago Justice” as Shambala Green, a character she played for many years on the original “Law & Order” series. She last played the part over a decade ago. At the moment, it looks like this is meant to be just a one-off appearance given that she already has a TV gig over on Fox’s “Rosewood,” but it is nice to see that Green will be mentioned as a part of this universe.
While for the most part Wolf and the producers have done a fairly good job connecting the “Law & Order” franchise to things going on in Chicago, we do have to remind you that we’ve also seen actors cast before in very different roles than ones that they played originally on the franchise. Then again, this is hardly new in that we’ve also seen similar things happening over at CBS in the “NCIS” / “JAG” franchise. What is the most important thing to take note of at the moment is that this backdoor pilot is shaping up rather nicely, and while there is no confirmation as of yet that it will be ordered to series, it is very nice to see progress being made.
We’ll have more news on this pilot as it hits our desk. Stay tuned.
