‘The Walking Dead’ season 6, episode 14 reaction: Merritt Wever on crazy Denise scene

Denise -

Given that “The Walking Dead” is a show where people just so happen to die often, you almost have to expect someone to go nearly every episode. With that being said, though, it is amazing that the show still does find a way to surprise us here and there.

Take, for example, on Sunday night’s new episode where we ended up losing another important character to the show in Denise. She was starting to come into her own as a valuable member of Alexandria, but ultimately she was taken down as an invasion of Saviors gave her one of the most gruesome deaths imaginable. Ultimately, though, it was one that Merritt Wever knew was coming in one way or another. Speaking to TVLine in a postmortem, she confirmed that she knew her character was going to be going by the end of the season:

“It’s an amazing place to work. I had heard that it was a really nice set before starting the job, and it’s all true. So it would’ve been an amazing place to [continue working in]. But it was understood all along that it would only be the length of [Season 6] and I didn’t let myself think otherwise. I’m not a hopeful person by nature, either.”

Hopefully, Wever is going to find another show to sign on to at some point in the super-near future. After all, remember here that she does have an Emmy on her mantel already courtesy of “Nurse Jackie,” and we’re sure that there are plenty of shows out there that would love to have her aboard.
