‘Chicago PD’ spin-off ‘Chicago Justice’ officially adds Carl Weathers
The potential “Chicago PD” spin-off “Chicago Justice” has found its latest addition now, and it is someone who is certainly an acting icon for those of you who are fans of classic cinema.
While at PaleyFest this weekend promoting all of the shows that he executive-produces, Dick Wolf made it clear that none other than Apollo Creed himself in Carl Weathers will be joining a cast that includes Joelle Carter (“Justified”), Philip Winchester (“Strike Back”), and a series of other familiar faces. To us, the casting of Carl Weathers is huge given that it gives the show a little more credibility, which it is going to need in an effort for it to be more than just another edition in the famed “Chicago” franchise.
Of course, to us the best memory that we have of Weathers is him doing a brilliant send-up of himself on “Arrested Development” when it was revealed that he was going to help coach up Buster in the world of acting.
For those who have not heard just yet, “Chicago Justice” (previously known as “Chicago Law”) is going to be planted within an episode of “Chicago PD” set to air a little bit later this season, and NBC should have its mind made up by May as to whether or not this is worthy of a series. They will probably decide based on their own feelings about the script and the story, and then after most of the viewing public has a chance to see the episode for themselves.
