‘Supergirl’ season 17 preview: The struggle for Siobhan Smythe

On Monday night’s new episode of “Supergirl,” we are certainly going to see the beginnings of the Silver Banshee story. After all, Siobhan has to become her soon if the upcoming “The Flash” crossover episode is going to work out right.

In the sneak peek below, Italia Ricci’s character is still struggling following Kara Danvers’ shocking move at CatCo, where she exposed her for trying to leak information about Supergirl to the Daily Planet. Cat fired her, and as she tells Winn, nobody will now even consider hiring her. Is it hard to have a whole lot of sympathy for Siobhan? Sure, mostly because she came across as a pretty terrible person much of the time. She didn’t necessarily desire the fury of Kara following her Red Kryptonite poisoning, but she hardly did anything to win people over. We’re still surprised that Winn sees something in her that others don’t.

This conversation between the two doesn’t seem to do much to convince Siobhan to let go of any of her anger, either. She has a motive for wanting to destroy both Kara and Cat, and the next thing she needs is the opportunity. Obviously, she is going to figure out something when it comes to how to do just that sooner rather than later.

Ultimately, we’re not sure just how much is going to be resolved during Monday night’s new episode, mostly given the fact that what we could really end up seeing instead is some of the groundwork being laid for some major events that are coming up on the show in the final weeks of the season.
