Fox switches ‘Bob’s Burgers,’ ‘Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life’ around
Just in case you were looking for some further indication that Fox is officially over “Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life,” we may have it for you right now.
According to SpoilerTV, when the comedy returns to the network with new episodes on Sunday, April 3, it will be doing so from a different timeslot in 7:30 p.m. Eastern time. Shifting the show an hour earlier effectively pushes it from normal primetime, which to us means mostly that the network doesn’t have it so much in its long-term plans. In its place, “Bob’s Burgers” will now air following “The Simpsons” at 8:30.
We know that it may sound somewhat contradictory to say this given that “Bob’s Burgers” has been airing at 7:30, but the difference there is that we’ve seen Fox commit so much more to that show, and they knew that there were some passionate fans of it that would watch it really no matter when it was on. This, however, could be an entirely different story.
While Fox does still generate some reasonably strong ratings with their Sunday-night comedy block (at least compared to the competition), it has sagged a little bit this winter. Moving away “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” proved to be somewhat of an error, since its ratings have fallen and no other show has been able to replicate its success. “The Simpsons” and “Family Guy” are certainly long in the tooth and then some, but they do still remain the shows that are generating the largest ratings for the network as a whole.
