‘Top Chef’ season 14 heading to Charleston, South Carolina
Well, Bravo certainly wasted almost no time at all deciding what the future would hold for the “Top Chef” franchise following the season 13 finale on Thursday night. In a statement today, it was announced that Charleston, South Carolina will be the primary location for season 14. We’re ultimately not too surprised, given that Southern cuisine outside of New Orleans has not been fully explored on the show to date; not only that, but this allows for even more of an opportunity to use some great seafood of the region.
Here is what Shari Levine, Executive Vice President, Current Production at Bravo Media had to say about the choice:
“Charleston is the perfect location to inject our next batch of chefs. We know Charleston and are excited by the food, people and possibility it brings with its rich cultural and historical background which has played an important role in shaping South Carolina’s unique cuisine.”
Season 14 will more than likely be filmed in the late spring / summer so that it can air later this year. We feel like the fact that there is a defined setting here may be more of an indication that we are going with new chefs as opposed to All-Stars, since during that season of the show there really was not a whole lot that was ultimately said about the location and it was more about the people who were taking part in the competition.
We’ll have more news on “Top Chef,” including what can be done to make the franchise better, in the near future.
