Marvel’s ‘Iron Fist’ finally confirms Finn Jones – Danny Rand casting
We’re one day away from the premiere of “Daredevil” season 2 on Netflix, and apparently for one reason or another this is when Marvel and Netflix thought that it would be the best time to officially lift the veil on the casting of Finn Jones as Danny Rand for the upcoming “Iron Fist” series.
Of course, this casting was first leaked weeks ago, but we know that Marvel likes to make their own huge announcements about such things. In a new statement today, the comic company’s TV head Jeph Loeb had the following to say:
“Finn wonderfully blends confidence with vulnerability, making him the perfect choice as he struggles to find his place in the world … Now that we’ve found our Danny Rand, we’ve completed our principal cast for the upcoming Defenders on Netflix and we are thrilled to continue to show audiences unexplored corners of the Marvel Universe.”
Meanwhile, “Iron Fist” showrunner Scott Buck (“Dexter”) said the following:
“Danny Rand is a very complicated character … Finn is able to play all these levels in such an honest, revelatory way that as soon as I saw him I knew he was our Danny.”
Jones is best known for his work on “Game of Thrones,” and while this casting is not necessarily confirmation that some terrible things are coming for Loras Tyrell, we do have that sort of pit now in our stomach. The one bit of hope we’ll offer is that it is not exactly like “Game of Thrones” requires any one actor for months on end, especially in a supporting role.
“Iron Fist” is going to probably premiere at some point in 2017 given the timing, and who knows? After that, maybe Marvel will be closer to bringing you the greatness potentially that is “The Defenders,” something they’ve been building towards for some time.
