‘NCIS’ star Michael Weatherly signs on to Dr. Phil-produced CBS drama pilot
Well, this is certainly news that we did not see coming today.
Sources confirm that Michael Weatherly, who is still in the process of wrapping up his gig as Agent Tony DiNozzo on “NCIS,” has signed on for a new CBS drama pilot entitled “Bull” executive-produced by Dr. Phil McGraw. The series chronicles the title character Dr. Bull (Weatherly), who runs a trial consulting service and is extremely successful at what he does. The show is based loosely on some of McGraw’s own experiences long before he had a daytime talk show.
The major reason that we’re shocked by this news is because we wondered whether or not Weatherly would want to get back into TV full-time right away after 13 seasons of the show, given that he also has a production company. With that being said, we’re happy that he is. Even if the show is not picked up this continues to showcase his strong relationship with CBS, and we’re sure that they would find another potential gig for him down the road.
For Weatherly fans, what we’d be excited for here is a chance for him to show somewhat of a different side, and get to navigate in a little bit of a different setting rather than being out on the street trying to fight crimes with Gibbs and McGee. We should learn more about the fate of this series a little bit later this spring when the network has their upfront presentation in New York City.

I’m so excited to read this. It’s about time someone recognize Michael Weatherly’s talent and do something positive to bring it to viewers. I got so tired of enduring the super/tragic Gibbs hour so that I could be treated to a one minute humiliation moment for Tony. Bye bye NCIS. Hello Bull!

I thought of you when I saw the news. It is a shame that for almost three years that Weatherly could not get a decent script out of TPTB. CBS did a poll on facebook a few years back and asked fans about the best episodes of the series. Numbers one and two on the list were Truth or Consequences and SWAK.–Big Gibbs episodes?–NOT!!!! Michael Weatherly was awesome. I wish him the best. I hope he gets some great writing. There is no guarantee, however. As much as I like Cote de Pablo, the script for the Dovekeepers was awful. I read the book and they butchered it. I’m glad that you have something to hope for.

There is a “like” feature, it is an up vote. It looks like an upside down v. I just up voted both of your comments.
