‘The Fosters’ season 3, episode 18 review: Callie’s trust issues; Gabe’s future thwarted

Fosters -As we start to near the end of “The Fosters” season 3, it is of course an unwritten rule that some storylines are going to intensify, often in unexpected ways. Take, for example, Callie starting to feel like she is being manipulated in some ways by Justina.

We wonder what the main takeaway of this particular plot is going to be, and we figure that it is this: Sometimes in life, you have to prepare for people not always having the best intentions for you at heart. Even though they act as though they want to be there for you, how much are they really? It’s something that we’re going to have to figure out more of as we get closer and closer to the end. Callie also has other things to worry about beyond Justina, given that Cortney, Brandon’s new love interest, gets uncomfortable with her around.

While we’re getting closer to the Romeo & Juliet musical, there are of course some developments there, as well. Mariana, in the midst of taking part of this play, did her part to try to help Gabe, even if he didn’t want her help. Unfortunately, events spiraled out of control and it led to Gabe getting arrested for being around an unaccompanied minor.

As far as Stef and Lena were concerned, their part of the story was about the former trying to continue to be able to express her feminine side after the operation and her haircut. In the end, though, she actually found it liberating more so than anything else to be freed from some conventions and to emphasize herself above all else. This was a nice moment! Now we just wish the promo for the next episode was a little less ominous. Grade: B.
