Tonight, it finally arrived: The season finale of “The Bachelor.” This is when we are finally going to learn the answer to one key question: Who in the world is Ben Higgins going to choose when the dust settles? There were two women left to start the night in Lauren Bushnell and JoJo Fletcher, and at least Ben admitted at one point during the “I need clarity” mess that nobody should sympathize for him since he put himself in this situation.
For the majority of the episode, it seemed like he was almost constantly waffling between the two women, unsure of what to do. Do we think the whole “he loves both women” narrative is overblown? Sure, since he probably had at least some sort of preference throughout this. The moment he started to express some doubts to JoJo during their one-on-one date, we started to think that the writing could be on the wall for her. His biggest concern with her is, apparently, a lack of concern.
There’s a sort of unwritten rule when it comes to the finale of this show, and it is this: It’s really easy to tell who is going to be shut down judging by the arrival order. Almost every significant fan of the show knows this. In the end, we learned that the person in second was … JoJo. This whole rejection bit went about as you would expect. In other words, not exactly great. Why would she be okay with the idea of going through all of this only to be rejected in the end?
So yea, Ben picked Lauren, she said yes, and it was every bit as sappy and romantic as you would expect. HUGE engagement ring, and now we start waiting to see if they actually get married on the “After the Final Rose” as suggested.
