‘American Idol 15’ results: Was Sonika Vaid, Avalon Young, or Lee Jean eliminated?

For the second straight week, “American Idol” decided that they would rather be “The X Factor” with their results than themselves, and decided to turn over the final say on the votes to the judges. Yes, this was insanely frustrating as a way to treat the public who has supported you all of these years. Do you really think that America is going to screw this up?

Well, to be fair, we do think that they screwed this up when it comes to the bottom three. Avalon Young, Lee Jean, and Sonika Vaid were the three in jeopardy, while Tristan McIntosh was still declared safe. The country fans are strong this year! Avalon was amazing last week, and we thought that Sonika had delivered some great performances so far. Alas, this is what happens to women contestants on this show sometimes.

In the end, we’d say that the decision to save Sonika shouldn’t come as a shock, given that she was not in the bottom three before this week, and therefore she probably has the best overall chance to sticking around beyond this week. As for Avalon, maybe the judges just didn’t see a path to the victory for her at this point. Losing Lee at this point was no surprise at all.

Anyway, we are now entering a top 6 with three men and three women, and they are all bringing something to the table that is at least somewhat distinct. This should be fun.
