‘Reign’ season 3 will be last for Torrance Coombs; actor joins ABC pilot

Reign -We hope that you’ve really enjoying seeing Torrance Coombs on “Reign,” since it appears as though season 3 will be the last for the actor on the program.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Coombs is set to join the new ABC pilot “Still Star-Crossed,” which is in many ways a follow-up to “Romeo & Juliet” in hope it follows the Capulet and Montague families for the events that follow the two characters’ deaths. Specifically, he will be playing the part of Count Paris, the man who was originally the intended for Juliet. He will serve as one of the main antagonists for the series, which to us stands a reasonably good chance of getting a series order based on the buzzy premise and the fact that it hails from Shonda Rhimes’ Shondaland banner.

Rhimes herself is not actually writing the project, but will serve as an executive producer; meanwhile, Heather Mitchell of “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Scandal” will be the architect for this show.

As for what Coombs’ casting here means for the future of “Reign,” it is possible that he decided to look elsewhere feeling as though the odds of the show returning for a fourth season were low; or, it’s possible that something happens that writes out his character of Sebastian. This has been an extremely dramatic season for the show so far, given that we already lost Toby Regbo’s character of Francis after he was killed earlier this year. We suppose it is possible that Coombs could still appear on “Reign” if “Still Star-Crossed” is ordered, but it wouldn’t be as a regular.

We should know the fate of both “Still Star-Crossed” and also “Reign” a little bit later in the spring, so be sure to be on the lookout for some other news at the link here.
