‘Pretty Little Liars’ season 6, episode 19 review: Hanna’s big plan
“Pretty Little Liars” on Tuesday night was all about trying to find answers, but going into this episode it was clear that there were two women at the top of the suspect list: Mona and Sara Harvey. Both were victims in one way or another of torture and manipulation, and the latter in particular was definitely a victim of Charlotte DiLaurentis.
There was tension almost all across the board in this story as the threat of the stalker was weighing on everyone’s head, but there was one thing that remained clear from almost start to finish: The stalker who was threatening the likes of the Liars needed to be stalked. That’s why they teamed up for an elaborate new plan in an effort to try to stop this monster before they could do anything else. Hanna would proclaim to be the one responsible for Charlotte’s death, and from there she could aid in the unmasking of this foe once and for all. She used Caleb to help send a message over time him or her, and they received it in the closing minutes.
While we await to see the stalker’s next move, Mona and Sara have met face to face, Aria and Ezra are working on the book with less oversight from Liam (is that trouble for their relationship), and Hanna in general is gravitating away from Jordan. We’re not going to sing the praises really of either the Spencer or the Emily storylines in this episode, but to an extent they’ve been a little all over the place, especially the latter.
As a whole, we’ve found the flash-forward storyline a little disappointing, but at least for this episode we’ll give the show some credit for establishing a narrative that was consistent and relatively succinct from start to finish. It’s a move in the right direction. Grade: B.
