CBS CEO hints at ‘Supergirl,’ ‘Code Black’ season 2 renewals

Supergirl -Is “Supergirl” about to soar for a second season on CBS? It may be a little early to say for certain one way or another, but some of the early comments from the network’s head in Les Moonves certainly imply that this is something that could be coming up.

Speaking per Deadline while at the Deutsche Bank Media, Internet & Telecom Conference, the network’s CEO made it clear that “about five” of the network’s new series would be returning for another season. Which shows are they? There are no guarantees, but to us the Melissa Benoist show is a given, and the same goes for “Life in Pieces,” which has been a solid new comedy. We’re reasonably optimistic that both “Code Black” and “Limitless” could return, though the latter in particular has experienced some ratings woes.

Of course, this does still leave one more spot that could be filled by either “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders” or “Rush Hour,” depending on what happens in the ratings. If they both do really well, maybe one of them bumps off “Code Black” or “Limitless.” This is a decision that won’t have to be made for certain for a few weeks, but at this point we’d label “Supergirl” and “Life in Pieces” near-guarantees, while at the same time “Code Black” is a strong possibility.

“Supergirl” was not on the air with a new episode this week, but rest assured that you can head over here right now to get some further news in regards to what is coming up the rest of the way. New episodes start again on Monday.
