‘Game of Thrones’ season 6: Ramsay as the new Joffrey
With the sixth season of “Game of Thrones” coming up on HBO at some point in the reasonably-near future, we are getting near the time where some of the cast is getting the chance to finally speak out and do press … even if they are not able to say too much in regards to what is coming up.
Thanks to that, what we’re instead getting when it comes to many actors are some reflections on the roles they are playing, and some of what could be coming up down the road. For a little of that right now, we turn to none other than Iwan Rheon, who plays the part of Ramsey Bolton on the series. Speaking to Digital Spy, he opts to draw a fitting distinction for how people feel about his part right now:
“It’s full of anti-heroes. A lot of the characters that you love aren’t your typical heroes. I don’t get shouted at on the street or anything … I guess after the demise of Joffrey, [Ramsay has] sort of stepped into that antagonist role. He’s a different enemy to Joffrey.”
Similar to Joffrey, Ramsay is the sort of character in which it is hard to imagine there being any sort of significant change coming for. If there was, don’t you think we would have heard about it before now? This is a guy who has just displayed a history to date of some terrible behavior patterns, and it certainly does not feel that possible to turn some of that around. If nothing else, we’re waiting to see if Ramsay will eventually get some sort of comeuppance for his past actions, especially since Theon and Sansa may now be out there, and they definitely have the motive to go after him.
