‘Survivor: Kaoh Rong’ rankings: Does Tai’s immunity-idol find improve his stock in the Beauty tribe?
When we started thinking about writing our “Survivor” rankings for the Beauty tribe, we wondered if anything was really going to change from the most-recent one we did. Then, we started thinking about some of the finer details, from the alliance-making to the immunity idol find. With all of this, coupled with an impending tribe swap, we’re starting to really feel like the landscape of this tribe moving forward may actually be totally different.
As per usual, we’re ranking the contestants based on strategy, edit, screen time, challenge ability, camp effectiveness, and overall threat level.
6. Nick Maiorano (last week: 6) – The good news for Nick is that this tribe has been outstanding through three episodes when it comes to staying out of trouble. The bad news for Nick, however, is that he is clearly now on the bottom based on what we’ve seen. Some people on his tribe don’t like him, and Anna made it clear to Caleb he’s their target. Given how close the women are, the best thing he can hope for is either an idol play or a tie vote. Both seem unlikely for the sake of saving him.
5. Caleb Reynolds (4) – This is looking more so to the future than the present. While it’s great that Caleb may be #4 on this Beauty alliance with the women, the reality here is that we’re almost at a tribe swap. The next few votes could be a great chance to take out someone like him who is an obvious physical threat, especially if his allegiance to other people is clear.
4. Julia Sokolowski (3) – Let’s be clear that we’re not ranking Julia here because she’s in danger of being voted off anytime soon. It’s more that we are not seeing anything in her edit that makes us think she is a genuine threat to go far this season and win. We’re barely seeing any important scenes with her.
3. Tai Trang (5) – An immunity idol goes a long way, coupled with the fact that it’s now clear that he is not the Beauty tribe’s biggest target. Tai is the sort of guy that people will just want to keep around because they like him, and he’s got a good thing going with Caleb. His biggest problem is mostly that he’s almost too likable for his own good and we still have a hard time envisioning that someone will want him around at the end.
2. Michele Fitzgerald (1) – We finally have a change at the top of the tribe rankings! We still feel like the divide between #2 and #1 is minuscule, and we’re basing this mostly on just the important scenes that we’ve seen as of late. Anna has dominated more recent strategy on the show, and we have to consider that as important.
1. Anna Khait (2) – Truthfully, we’re really not sure Anna telling Caleb that he is basically #4 in a four-person alliance is a great thing, given that down the road that does give him license to go and find a better deal. Yet, that’s our own read more so than anything that we saw on the show, as Caleb seemed to be fine with it. It’s starting to become more clear that she is running this tribe, and we do think that she has the game skills to go extremely far in this game.
