‘NCIS’ season 13 spoilers: More on Robert Wagner’s return, potentially big Michael Weatherly story
It was not too long ago that we reported that Robert Wagner would be coming back to “NCIS” in the near future in the role of DiNozzo Sr., and we are now very much pleased to report that we have some further news all about what you can expect in this big episode. It will air on March 22, and the title for it is “Reasonable Doubts.”
What may be a little more surprising is the notion that Tony could have a sister that he never knew about. Here is what the CBS synopsis had to say:
“The NCIS team must ascertain who is lying, the wife or the mistress, after the women accuse each other of murdering a Navy Public Affairs officer. Also, Anthony DiNozzo, Sr. (Robert Wagner) helps a homeless woman who believes he is her father.”
So basically, what we’re looking at here is a situation where Sr. could have had a past we never knew about … at least if this homeless woman turns out to be telling the truth. It’s hard to say, but if this does turn out to be a secret relative of Tony’s, could this lead in some way to why Michael Weatherly’s character is leaving the show? We may be reaching, but at the same time it’s worthwhile to wonder what the circumstances of his exit are given that he seems to take pride in the job that he has. If Tony really wanted to leave NCIS, he would have before now. It could take something big in order for him to consider a move elsewhere.

I’m going to be honest. I loved NCIS and I finished watching season 2 a few weeks ago(I LOVED SWAK). On what I’m reading about Tony leaving, I don’t think I’m going to watch anymore after he leaves and I heard about him not being focused on much on the show since Kate died and Ziva came in the comment section. Is this true because I’m mostly watching the show because Tony is my favorite character(along with Kate, VERY upset she died and cried about it for a while)

I think Tony will have a huge blow out (up) with Gibbs.. Not giving him duties to perform. Then there’s DiNozzo Sr..maybe passes on and Tony needs to be there for his sister?… Hate the Gibbs segments. Not watching next years shows

Why watch if you are all tired of watching Gibbs? Just watch the few last episodes when MW finally gets to say his goodbye. I love all the characters even Bishop. That’s ‘my’ opinion. I think Gibbs is paying more attention to Bishop in this season is because he had that moment with his daughter in the first episode. Bishop is probably similar in age with his daughter if she was alive, and Gibbs does have this soft spot for women. He is a marine to the core after all, and all soldiers do have this ‘the women and children first’ motto. He even has a rule for that. And for GIbbs to be the center of attention all the time? Well, didn’t the cast and the crew say that the season WILL be about the change in Gibbs? He had a traumatic experience, he is reflecting his life and past, he is trying to coordinate a change(I mean he hasn’t given ONE single headslap to anyone in this season), he is even getting couselling, which he has always avoided one way or the other in the past seasons. And though MW has a bigger fan base, what about SM? He hasn’t had a bigger role, RC is not been seen very much, why not talk and question that?
Anyway, if MW felt that he was sholved aside, which by the critics, mainly you people, for many seasons, why choose now? I mean he isn’t stupid, he has been in the show biz for almost 2 decades so he should know when he is being treated poorly, so working just for the sake of working or the big pay? I don’t buy that. You can only tolerate so much if you are feeling as if you are underused. Tolerating because of loyalty? To not disappoint his fans? That can’t be the case since he is leaving after all.
Anyone has the right to his or her opinion, I don’t begrudge that, but like I said before, if you are tired of GIBBS, GIBBS, GIBBS, hate BISHOP, hate the writers, the producers, and want to see MW or other of your favorite characters the center of attention, just read the reviews, after the show has runned, see if your fav charac has been in the spotlight and watch that episode and if not don’t. One way or the other MW will get his finale, just watch that if you want to see more MW on the show. He has said that he is leaving because he is going to produce his own show. Do you really think that he would have enough time to do that and show up regular in a show that shoots 10 hours or more a day for 9 months a year? I don’t. Or maybe that is just an excuse and there are other reason we the outsiders will never know. Who knows?

Really that’s the story they’re coming up with….sigh…. And I agree with sadtonyfan, about what happened to Tony once Ziva was introduced, at least in Seasons 1-2 you saw an almost equal partnership between Gibbs and Tony, and then suddenly Ziva became the got to person for everything, and Tony was pushed off to the side. Those first two seasons were what drew me to the show, since then it’s been a hope that those days would return, and canon would be respected by writers to some degree. And I agree with agentscully514, I get that Gibbs is the main character, but would it be really that hard to balance the good stories between all the characters like they used to?!! I’ll really miss Michael Weatherly! Definitely debating if I’ll watch the future seasons.

Tony was most definitely NOT Gibbs’ equal in the first two seasons, and Kate thought herself superior to Tony as well. Tony only got more interesting when Ziva came along.

That’s your opinion. Tony had many hero moments and moments where he challenged and needled Gibbs in the first several seasons. Tony was portrayed as an essential agent to the solving of many cases. He handled danger with humor. I found that the writers cared about Tony in the first 4 seasons. I didn’t mind Ziva in seasons 3 and 4 because her dramas hadn’t become the focus of the show. This was when the show still had a team feel to it. Once Shane Brennan took control the show Tony importance as an agent and his character in general began to be devolved. By around season 7 he was not much more than an admiring onlooker to admire Ziva’s butt kicking and constant tragedies. The show only featured Gibbs or Ziva in the big stories and everyone else was supporting cast to them. Once Ziva left with Gary Glasberg at the helm the show has shamelessly become nothing more than a vehicle for Mark Harmon’s Gibbs. They have diminished Tony in favor of McGee and Bishop, and Tony has limited screen time, never gets an exciting story or any character flattery, and rarely gets out of the bullpen unless he’s with the entire team. As a fan who has hung in there far too long in the hopes of seeing the writers be allowed to care about Tony again I am extremely disappointed and wonder just how unimportant the current ptb will make Tony’s departure seem. No wonder they lost Weatherly. IMO he’s the heart of the show. Mr.s Glasberg and Harmon broke rule 5 and blew it with their All Gibbs all the Time agenda.

That is your opinion, we all have different ones. I wrote almost equal, but at least it was a partnership, with Gibbs and Tony communicating with a look and leaving Kate feeling left out. Yes Kate did think she was superior, but her opinion did change to a level of respect. I have to agree with sadtonyfan, yes Ziva was fine, but to a point, and as mentioned by sadtonyfan, things changed in around season 7, but Ziva did also tend to act superior to Tony – the whole thing about her being mossad/and in mossad…., she did also show disrespect to Tony by not acknowledging that he was Gibbs’ SFA, whenever he was incharge.

I miss Kate more after reading this and I do agree that Tony wasn’t really respected by Ziva about being SFA like Kate did. It makes me wish more and more that the alternate reality episode actually happened in the show where Kate was still alive.

Gary Glasberg said in an interview a couple years ago that he and Harmon consulted everyday, so evidently Harmon has a hand in the super Gibbs all the time agenda. In an April 2015 ET interview, Weatherly stated that fans know that Tony DiNozzo died 5 years ago. This was about the time that he became Ziva’s purse and resident butt monkey with no discernable attributes save for being on hand to admire Ziva or Gibbs’s awesomeness or tragic drama du jour. I have zero faith in the Glasberg/Harmon team to have any desire to attempt to give DiNozzo an exciting send off as they NEVER take the focus off of Gibbs. DiNozzo’s departure will likely be the B or C plot in one episode of another multi episode Gibbs finale arc.

I don’t know why you blame it on Ziva. Tony has been Gibbs’ handbag and butt monkey for 13 seasons. If anything, its worse since she left. At least while she was there the show wasn’t 100% Gibbs worship.

Are you sure that Michael wasn’t referring to Shane Brennan leaving and Glasberg taking over as showrunner.
In season 7, Jesse Stern wrote the first and last episode, something that the show runner usually does on this show. Stern wrote Truth or Consequences (season 7 episode 1) where Michael gave an awesome performance. He also wrote One Last Score (season 8 episode 17) one of the two episodes that Michael directed. Season 8 was the last for Stern. Officially Glasberg became the show runner in April of 2011.season 9.
