‘Top Chef: California’ episode 13 preview: A shocking elimination … over toast?
There is always this perception that with food, it’s better to make things as complicated and fancy as possible. Of course, the reality is often the opposite; ideally, you want to make it something that tells a great story, and something that has the right combination of flavors. Sometimes, the best thing also just so happens to be the simplest.
Now that we’ve said all of that, let’s go ahead and share the preview below from the next new episode of “Top Chef.” Here, the final five contestants run into a familiar face and a “Top Chef Masters” alumni, and from here they are tasked with something super-specific: Trying to create the perfect piece of toast. They have to pick the right piece of bread, get the right combination of flavors, and then serve it in a way that is appetizing. Apparently, artisanal toast is all the rage right now, which is something that we had no idea about and may be a sign that we need to get out more and try new things.
Anyway, let’s not make this about us. The big surprise here is that the two chefs who take part in the Sudden Death Quickfire portion of the challenge will be forced to cook for their spot in the competition. Potentially, we could have a double-elimination extremely close to the finale, and that is extremely rare.
Then again, we gleam from this that the next episode of “Last Chance Kitchen” could serve as its finale, and we could end up seeing the returning chef face off with the remaining three contestants in a new location.
