‘Hey Arnold: The Jungle Movie’ officially happening at Nickelodeon, creator Craig Bartlett confirms

Arnold -For everyone who didn’t get enough nostalgia today courtesy of the “Legends of the Hidden Temple” revival coming to Nickelodeon, we’re now bringing some other great news: The network has officially greenlit “Hey Arnold: The Jungle Movie.”

We’re probably more familiar with this concept than most, and it starts more than a decade ago when the show was coming to an end on the network. There were constant clamorings and hopes that this story, one regarding Arnold’s search for his long-lost parents as foreshadowed in some ways by the special episode “The Journal,” would be told. However, at the time it never happened, and we admittedly never expected that this would see the light of day.

Yet, creator Craig Bartlett confirmed the news today in a post on Instagram, and also dropping the news that the story would be told over two parts. It’s really far too early to speculate more on what else this story will contain, but that’s something that we anticipate having some other news about in the future.

The talk about a “Hey Arnold!” revival movie first started last year, following Nick making it clear that they had an interest in turning to nostalgia as a way to reinvigorate their programming, and we suspect create an environment where parents are excited and interested in watching things with their own children. This show always had a timeless appeal, and it makes sense that out of the existing properties that the network has, they would turn to this.

If you want to check out some other “Hey Arnold!” related coverage, last year we compiled a list of the necessary episodes that anyone should watch before the show returns.
