Jimmy Kimmel’s Oscars special to feature Nathan Lane – Matthew Broderick Donald Trump number (video)
The Academy Awards are airing tonight on ABC, but is this the only thing worth watching? Hardly. As almost everyone out there likely knows, the show airing after the show (and also the local news) is a tremendous late-night tradition hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, one that routinely brings out big stars and also does some ridiculously funny things.
While there are many elements of this year’s show that are still very much under wraps, we’re at least glad to confirm one thing right now: You’re going to get a reunion featuring Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane! The two Broadway icons, who we best know for “The Producers,” will be teaming up once more in order to perform a musical number seemingly skewering Donald Trump. You can check out a sneak preview for it below!
Are the majority of the lyrics at the moment predictable? Sure, but at the same time it feels pretty hard to come up with a new way to make fun of the Presidential candidate. Almost every comedian under the sun has created some great jokes all about him, and we don’t expect this to be any different at all. Our primary hope here is just that it lives up to some of the billing that we have for it in our head given the talent level here. Also, we’re hoping for a few more celebrity cameos.
While we’re not sure we’re going to be around later tonight to talk about this special in full, you better believe we’ll have some highlights for it online in the morning.
