‘Arrested Development’ season 5 not coming up soon, says Jason Bateman

If you’re like us, then you are probably extremely eager to return to Newport Beach and see more of the Banana Stand, the Bluth family, and everything else that comes under the “Arrested Development” banner. While Netflix may be picking up many more comedies, this is the one that we’re still the most excited to have more of!

Unfortunately, and despite claims from creator Mitch Hurwitz that he is working on ideas, it apparently hasn’t gotten close to the point where the cast is close to signing on. Speaking to Zap2It while promoting the upcoming “Zootopia” movie, Jason Bateman (who of course plays Michael Bluth) had the following to say about the rumors of the gang getting back together soon:

“I don’t know where that got started … There is no plan. I haven’t heard of anything solid going forward.”

Our stance on this subject ultimately remains the same that it has for a long time, and that is this: We do think that the show is eventually going to be coming back with new episodes. The challenge is just finding a way to have that happen when Jeffrey Tambor has “Transparent,” Portia de Rossi has “Scandal,” Bateman has many movies, Will Arnett has “BoJack Horseman” and “Flaked,” and we’re not even mentioning the array of projects that David Cross and Michael Cera tend to have on the pipeline. This cast is probably one of the busiest out of any possible show out there.

As soon as we do here something in regards to the show’s future, though, you better believe we’ll have it for you here!
