‘Iron Fist’ casts ‘Game of Thrones’ actor Finn Jones as Danny Rand
Finally, one of the most-mysterious castings in all of the Marvel – Netflix universe has been confirmed.
As first reported by That Hashtag Show, Finn Jones of “Game of Thrones” fame has signed on to play Danny Rand, the title character and a martial-arts expert who is certainly different than Daredevil, Jessica Jones, or Luke Cage. He’ll bring a very different sort of energy to the part, and we’re super-psyched to see what he does with it. “Iron Fist” will likely film this year, and more than likely will air on Netflix at some point in 2017.
As for what the casting of Jones means for Loras Tyrell on the HBO epic … well, that remains to be seen. What we do know for the time being is that he will be a part of the upcoming sixth season, and we could envision in theory a way for the Loras character to still be implemented in small doses even with Finn doing this gig. The great thing about “Game of Thrones” is that there are close to a billion characters, and all of them divide up screen time. Nobody really has to worry too much about being the sole anchor of the show, and our sentiment is that is a great thing. It allows everyone the chance to do some other things.
We’ll have to wait and see whether or not “Iron Fist,” which is being run by former “Dexter” Scott Buck, turns out to be the show that everyone wants it to be. We’ll have some other news on the show in due time.
