‘American Idol 15’ results: Were Dalton Rapattoni, Olivia Rox advanced to top 10?

Wednesday night’s new episode of “American Idol” definitely decided to do a few things differently than the standard episode of the show. We’ve grown accustomed to seeing something in the way of results near the end of many of these programs, but when it comes to Wednesday night’s new episode, we actually got them at the onset! The judges chose to put four people automatically through to the next round.

So who were the four who made it through to Thursday’s show, which is guest-judged by Kelly Clarkson? Think along the lines of Dalton Rapattoni, Olivia Rox, La’Porsha Renae, and Trent Harmon. These four artists were all expected to go far, so seeing them put through and spared of a performance tonight is no real surprise at all.

Is it potentially harmful in any way for some of these four people to not be given an opportunity to perform on tonight’s show? We suppose that in theory it could be, but the judges did the right thing here in picking four people who were obviously favorites and won’t miss the extra opportunity. Plus, the other people tonight are really just reprising old favorites. Four out of the remaining ten are going to be eliminated, with the remaining artists joining the four we’ve already mentioned in performing from viewer votes yet again.

It’s somewhat confusing, but we at least understand why “American Idol” is doing this. In terms of scheduling, their backs are a little bit against the wall.
