‘Outlander’ season 2: See Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan, and more in cast photos!

With the second season of “Outlander” getting set to premiere on Starz come Saturday, April 9, the folks over at the network have bestowed yet another great gift upon us: Some promotional photos of many of the main cast members. We’re going to have more beyond this article, but we thought we’d start with some of the easily-recognizable faces from the franchise, even for some out there who are casual viewers.

One thing that is nice to see here in analyzing some of these photos is that Starz didn’t just do the super-corny thing of using PhotoShop to make it appear as though everyone was chilling out in the same exact setting. Also, many of them have a background that is somewhat indicative of who they are and where they are. For example, you don’t see Frank Randall (Tobias Menzies) in the same world seemingly as Claire (Caitriona Balfe), and you’ve got a different color palette behind Dougal (Graham McTavish).

You do get a sense here of some of the French influences that will come out as we get further and further along into this season. Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire are heading to France in order to begin a new life, but along the way they will discover a new myriad of problems and political schemes that they must contend with. Some familiar faces will return, and you’ll also be seeing more of Sam’s family to go along with it.

Trust us when we say these are far from the last “Outlander” photos we’ll have before the premiere.
