‘Daredevil’ season 2 not leading to Punisher spin-off right now, but all options are open
There’s certainly been a little bit of confusion out there regarding what exactly is being planned for The Punisher down the road within the Netflix – Marvel universe. For the time being, what we do know for certain is this: It’s something that could happen in the future, given of course what Marvel decides to do following Jon Bernthal playing the character on “Daredevil” season 2.
For now, let’s focus on what is being said about the role at the moment. Speaking in a new interview with Digital Spy about the character and the future, Jeph Loeb, one of the people responsible for all things DC on TV, had the following to say:
“I think that’s something that people are speculating on, as opposed to something that’s actually happening. It’s certainly our hope that any of our characters will be embraced and that people want to see more of them.”
Personally, we think that a show could happen down the road, especially since we’re tlaking about someone with a huge history of being in comic-books and in film. The only reason we’re not envisioning a quick turnaround here is because Netflix and Marvel have their hands full at the moment. We are still waiting to figure out who is going to be playing the part of Iron Fist, and we have that show, “Luke Cage,” “The Defenders,” and a second season of “Jessica Jones” to think about. All of those things are hopefully going to be updated more over the course of the weeks / months ahead.
