‘The X Factor’ UK won’t be getting ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ duo Ant and Dec to host
At this given point in time, we may be willing to say that Ant and Dec are the biggest presenters in all of Britain. They preside not only over one of the top-related reality shows out there in “Britain’s Got Talent,” but they also have the tremendous “Saturday Night Takeaway” that drew some big ratings with its latest premiere this past weekend. Sure, the U.S. version “Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris” didn’t quite land, but they still made some money as producers on the project.
Given that there is now a hosting vacancy on another popular show in “The X Factor,” could this be something that the two parties are interested in? We’re sure that Simon Cowell and ITV would love to have it happen, but as Ant tells the Mirror, they simply have no reason to take it on:
“We’ve done Britain’s Got Talent and we work well with Simon Cowell and have done for years. We did the original Pop Idol, so I don’t think we could go back to do a singing show. On Britain’s Got Talent we get that, but we get everything – magicians, jugglers, dogs. Once you’ve seen all that variety, I’m not sure we could do just singers again.”
The two hosts also revealed in this interview that they did recently get a call about hosting a different show in America, but they decided to turn it down. They have not made an attempt to crack the United States in years as on-air personalities, but also made it clear that they really have no desire to.
