Hillary Clinton visits ‘Scandal’ season 5 set

On this current season of “Scandal,” we are seeing the character of Mellie Grant do almost everything that she can to get the public on her side before running for President. She’s hoping to be the first woman leader of the United States … and the same goes for Hillary Clinton in real life. With that in mind, isn’t it perfect that she made an appearance on the show’s set?

Darby Stanchfield (Abby) was one of the many people to take a photo with the former First Lady, which you can below via her Twitter. We don’t get the sense that Clinton is actually going to be making a guest-star appearance or anything, and was instead just stopping by for a visit. Many people within the world of the show have campaigned for her in one way or another, and this is therefore a rather positive environment for her. (The irony here is that while “Scandal” is set in Washington DC, the show actually films on the other side of the country in Los Angeles.)

Television has without a doubt become more and more of a component in Presidential campaigns, and we’ve seen many different ways for candidates to leverage it. Sometimes, it means appearances on morning talk shows or cable news programs, while at other times it means making cameos on “Saturday Night Live” and other scripted shows. For Hillary, we can only imagine that there are many other appearances coming up on various shows in the future.
