‘The Bachelor’ review: JoJo Fletcher’s brother, Amanda Stanton, other Ben Higgins – hometown date drama
It’s almost a sure thing time and time again that “The Bachelor” is going to have drama on the hometown dates, but who would’ve thought that it would have cropped up in the way that it did on Monday night’s new episode? Except for Desiree Hartsock’s brother, we usually don’t see so much conflict on a date. JoJo Fletcher and Ben Higgins in Dallas was a clear exception and then some because of not just one, but two different brothers with problems.
Based on everything that we heard from JoJo’s brothers tonight, we’re not really sure what their issue was other than that they really weren’t fans of what Ben was putting down. Of course, the irony here is that one of them dated some women previously on the NBC show “Ready for Love” … and they’ve been there before. We think they handled the interrogation badly, while Caila Quinn’s father was at least a little more on point with what he was saying and acting. (Sidebar: How rich are all of these people?!)

Elsewhere, the only other source of possible tension was during the Amanda Stanton date in California, mostly because Ben never felt that comfortable in his surroundings unfortunately. We think he wants to be a good father and wants to be an instant father, but there may not be a part of him that is unconsciously ready. It’s hard to say, since he ultimately didn’t pick her and it is on to the next phase of the competition.
We’ll say this for now: Amanda played it off pretty well, all things considered, and she also was smart to call him out on hauling her back to Los Angeles just to send her home again. Hopefully Amanda finds someone; she seems nice! It just never felt like it was going to work for her this season.
