‘NCIS’ season 13, episode 16 video: See Michael Weatherly, Jon Cryer, Scottie Thompson in sneak peek!

Tuesday night’s new episode of “NCIS” is entitled “Loose Cannons,” and if the latest sneak peek courtesy of CBS is to be believed, and looks as though there could be quite a few different events that you can expect to see ahead.

Specifically, this sneak peek focuses on the return of two recurring players to the show in Dr. Taft (Jon Cryer) and Jeanne (Scottie Thompson), who are both involved in one way or another in a new case. For Taft, he is almost partnering in some ways with DiNozzo on a new mission, one that takes them into a conversation with Jeanne’s husband, where they hope to gather some information. Jeanne actually enters the discussion on a bit of a whim, but there seems to almost immediately be some sort of awkwardness between her and Tony. (Before her husband entered the room, Taft and Tony have a brief discussion about whether or not he is familiar with the history that she and Tony share.)

Is there going to be anything that comes out of this story? It’s still in the hard-to-say territory, since the last thing we want to see is a romance involving Tony and a married character, given that this is hardly a good look for him on his way out the door. If something happens between Jeanne and her husband that is entirely a different story; another possibility is that Jeanne is here more to send Tony down a different path and offer further closure from what happened so many years ago. Maybe the two can simply develop a good friendship and show how much they have evolved over the years.
