‘The Walking Dead’ season 6, episode 11 reaction: Andrew Lincoln on big Rick – Michonne scene
Sunday night’s new episode of “The Walking Dead” was definitely one that was many weeks and even years in the making since it contained a scene that longtime fans of Rick and Michonne have been waiting for: The two characters finally hooked up! This is a huge leap forward in their relationship, and this is a huge opportunity to see how they can evolve now in a world where everything is going to be doing that in one way or another.
Before we dive too deep into that, though, let’s just take a step back to answer another question: What did Andrew Lincoln think about the scene when he first found out? Saying that it was “amazing” to finally get to this point to TVLine, he also explained how co-star Danai Gurira ended up cluing him that something was coming:
“Danai had been acting weird in the makeup trailer a few days before [the episode started shooting]. The midseason premiere was quite busy for me, so I hadn’t had a chance to read the script for [Episode 10] yet. She was just acting weird and bashful and kind of shy [around me]. And I was like, ‘What is wrong with you? Why are you not talking to me?’ And she said, ‘Have you read it yet?’ And I said, ‘What are you talking about?’ And she said, ‘Have you read [Episode 10]?’ And at that point I had only read through Act 3, so I said, ‘Yes, it’s great. The episode is tonally very different. It’s funny and light.’ And she said, ‘No, have you gotten to the final scene.’ And I said, ‘No.’ And then, of course, I [went back and] read it and I just screamed. I ran to [her] trailer and I said, ‘What?! Why didn’t you tell me!’ And she said, ‘I couldn’t! I was freaking out!'”
In the end, we think that this is freakout-worthy, and it clearly changes everything for these two characters moving into the future. Ultimately, we’ll just have to wait and see what the precise aftermath of this event is.
