‘Once Upon a Time’ season 5 video: Look back at first 99 episodes, and ahead at Hades

On Saturday night in British Columbia, the cast and crew of “Once Upon a Time” gathered for what was definitely quite the perfect celebration for 100 episodes of the series. There was a cake-cutting, many interviews, a party, and of course a new sizzle reel that is all about celebrating the story that has come up so far … and also what lies ahead in the Underworld. After all, Hades is coming, and it’s looking more and more like he will be the Big Bad for the second half of the season.

The video below is quite possibly the best, most-epic highlight reel of everything that the show has done through 99 episodes so far. You get a sense of the action, the memorable characters, and even a little bit of the romance that we’ve seen so far, and that includes a few moments that you may have forgotten about over time.

Was there a “golden age” of the series somewhere in there? If we had to say so, our favorite time of the show was probably the second half of season 1, mostly because there was such an interesting conceit behind nobody in Storybrooke knowing that they had a past life as a fairy-tale character. Also, things were a little more simple then, and not every villain was somehow connection to someone else. Luckily, things have remained for the most part entertaining throughout, and while there have been some stories that have worked better than others (we didn’t really enjoy the Dark Swan arc as much as we wanted to), this show has delivered a touch of something special that we haven’t received anywhere else on TV.

For those who have not heard, “Once Upon a Time” returns with new episodes on March 6, just two weeks from today!
