‘Shark Tank’ video: Can Nohbo revolutionize the shampoo business?

Shark Tank -We appreciate it anytime that someone comes up with a way to solve what they perceive to be a problem on “Shark Tank,” but at the same time there is another question that you do have to keep in mind here: Is it a problem to anyone else? That may be one of the questions at the center of Nohbo.

As you can see in the sneak peek below, this is a concept designed by a young environmentalist to reduce the amount of waste that comes out of shampoo and conditioner. It’s a product that dissolves in water, and quickly converts itself into the right amount of shampoo or conditioner for a single use. This eliminates the need for the bottle, and as a result he claims that this can be cheaper than other conventional shampoos.

Do we think that the idea is a noble one? Absolutely, but we also think there are some issues here. For one, unwrapping a ball every time feels like somewhat of a hassle, and we’re not sure that is something that many people are going to want to deal with. Also, what if you have really long hair? We’re concerned that the amount of people interested in checking out Nohbo is just not going to be anywhere near the number of people who need to be in order for this business to work.

In the end, the biggest thing people could do to reduce waste is to simply recycle their bottles. Otherwise, we feel like this brand needs some other selling point like a potentially high-quality shampoo that is different than others on the market to stand out. (Maybe it has that, but the sneak peek is rather short.)
