‘Shark Tank’ video: Can Clean Sleep clean up in the Tank?
There are many interesting products that are going to be making their “Shark Tank” debut on Friday night, and some of them are certainly going to have better chances of making deals than others.
For the time being, we’re ranking Clean Sleep pretty high on the list for one reason: Simplicity. It’s a truck that basically comes to your place, cleans your mattresses / cushions, and then gives them back to you in a short period of time. The equipment looks simple enough that it’d be relatively easy to scale, and while some of the prices are reasonably high, it’s certainly a nice alternative to going out and buying a new mattress if you really wouldn’t need one otherwise.
There’s one other reason why this company is going to get some attention, and that is thanks to their founder’s emotional pitch about moving away from home at a young age and realizing that he wanted to make something of himself. We wish the video below didn’t cut out when it did, though, since we don’t really get a chance in hear to learn more about how he went from that point to being able to conceptualize this particular idea.
In the end, the success / failure of this company in the Tank will based largely on the founder’s ability to preach the message that having clean cushions is important, and this is something that consumers will be interested in buying. People love to spend money on commodities; it’s harder to convince them to put out cash for something that they think they may not fully need.
