Ratings: ‘Agent Carter’ falls further, ‘iZombie’ improves, and ‘NCIS,’ ‘NCIS: New Orleans’ top night
ABC may have found themselves in a strange pickle last year debating on whether or not to renew two shows in “Galavant” and “Agent Carter” that, while very strong quality-wise, were already struggling to get viewers to watch. Unfortunately, the decision to bring these two shows back is not exactly paying huge dividends. More on that later.
The winners – For now, let’s go ahead and pour a little praise on some shows that improved versus their last new episode. While it’s possible that it could adjust down in the final ratings, “iZombie” (0.6 in the 18-49 demographic), is up for now, and we’re feeling pretty secure about the show’s renewal odds. It may only have an average rating for CW standards, but that’s enough to get by.
Also, “NCIS: New Orleans” (2.0) had a pretty nice rise to finish #2 for the night behind “NCIS” (2.3, down slightly). We do want to mention “NCIS” proper in the winner’s column today mostly for one reason: Recognizing how it is only down 6.6% in the demo versus the previous season. For all of the talk we had a year or two ago about the series shedding a lot of viewers (both season 12 and season 11 had more than double-digit declines), it’s leveled off nicely.
The losers – “Agent Carter” just cannot win. Its latest two episodes drew a 0.7 rating, which coupled with Hayley Atwell booking a new pilot have us pretty convinced that the show is unfortunately done for. While Disney may love Marvel, ABC is not in the business of renewing shows that draw consistently low numbers, especially when “Agents of SHIELD” typically averages twice this and still is considered low-rated by some.
The only other notable decline of the week (we’re not so concerned about tiny dips for “The Flash” or “The Muppets,” given the later may be done for as-is) is “Chicago Med,” which hit a series low with a 1.4 rating. We do think that it is hurt right now by “Hollywood Game Night” (1.0) as a lead-in. That will change in a couple of weeks when “The Voice” returns.

All NCIS life long fans do is complain about how far the show has fallen so I don’t know who is actually watching the show any more. The ratings system is flawed because the fans from the beginning Hate the direction the show has taken since season 11 amd yet the stupid Nielson ratings dont reflect what 99.9 percent of the fans are saying. It’s time for a new ratings system

How stupid is this comment? NCIS has millions of viewers that do not use the Internet. The people you actually see complaining all the times are hardly fans of the show at all. They have their favorite actors/characters but they don’t really care much about the other actors/characters or the show in general. What you see online is a group of people who like to create multiple accounts to make others think they’re the majority. Obviously, they aren’t.

I used to care about the show. As a matter of fact I loved it. But no, I don’t love the current Gibbs Show. I don’t love that the current writers have been instructed for the last several years to use Tony as the demeaned comic fodder and turn McGee into Gibbs’s best most respected second in command. It’s as if tptb have gone out of their way to make Michael Weatherly want to go by diminishing his character as to be unrecognizable from its original conception. Well they’ve succeeded in getting rid of him. I really hope that there is such a thing as karma.

Boohoo… the bad bad writers didn’t write the show and characters the way you wanted. Too bad.
