Grammys 2016: Taylor Swift opens show with ‘Out of the Woods’
Given the current state of music, can you really be surprised by the way in which the 2016 Grammys choice to open the show this year? We got a performance of Taylor Swift doing “Out of the Woods,” which is her current single off of her new album “1989.”
There are some times in which the opening numbers for these awards-shows are some sort of enormous production that incorporates a number of different artists of songs, but that really wasn’t the case here. Instead, it was about as straightforward of an opening performance as you’re going to get from the Grammys. Still, we understand the reasoning why here by Swift to go with just one song; “Out of the Woods” is a big anthem, and the music behind it worked well for kicking off the show.
Do we have some problems with Swift at awards shows? Sure, but that has more to do with the shows than the singer herself. Her performances are generally solid, but for some reason the producers seem to want to pan to her every time that someone performs a song on the stage. The Swift Cam has become a little bit of overkill over time.
Still, we’re interested to see what is going to be coming up for Swift and everyone else involved in the show over the course of the next few hours … and with that, we plan on having some sporadic updates as time passes. Stay tuned for more!
