‘Daredevil’ season 2 trailer offers up extended look at The Punisher, Elektra tease

Netflix has just released the lengthiest trailer to date for “Daredevil” season 2, and there is no need to mince words here: It’s awesome.

In a moment that definitely makes us think of “Breaking Bad,” The Punisher (Jon Bernthal) accuses Daredevil a.k.a. Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) of only taking half-measures in the way in which he fights crime. The Punisher is not a full-fledged villain in Hell’s Kitchen, but at the same time he’s far from a hero. He’s a vigilante who kills rather than offering up second chances, and he creates a further environment for many to live in fear. Is this the sort of person the city needs? Murdock certainly doesn’t think so.

As a matter of fact, the trailer asks a very interesting question: Are Daredevil’s actions allowing someone like The Punisher to exist? Has he created such a large gray area that other people can come in and take advantage of it? That’s something that is a worthwhile question, and it’s something that we hope the show does further examine at some point over the course of this entire season.

Of course, seeing The Punisher is not the only notable thing about this particular trailer; if you stick around until the very end, you can take advantage of an opportunity to see Elektra for the first time in a scene. Her history with Matt should come into question, and we anticipate her being more than an important part of this season. Her role is more than likely going to be explained further in the next trailer for the show, which is coming in one week’s time.
