‘The Good Wife’ season 7, episode 14 review: Alicia Florrick gets a warning
Who says you can’t go home again? On Sunday night’s new episode of “The Good Wife” on CBS, we witnessed an opportunity for Alicia Florrick to do just this as she was able to head over to Lockhart, Agos, and Lee for what amounted to a rather interesting day on the job.
From start to finish, this was not a good day for Alicia. She had to handle, for one, suddenly being in the uncomfortable position of “new kid at school” after she realized that the firm had an established a great rapport without her. From there, we saw Diane being hardly accommodating when it comes to her attitude towards her, making it clear that she was not the sort of person she intended to spend a whole lot of time trusted. She almost resented Alicia for giving out advice to Lucca, who was fully under the new firm’s control rather than her own.
To us, this was all about the power move, and it signified to us along with the courtroom action this week that it could take some time for her to adjust and be happy … even if she does have Jason Crouse still lingering nearby as a freelancer.
The more important short-term news may be the impending demise of Peter Florrick. The sharks are circling, and it was nice to get Margo Martindale back here to reiterate the warning she gave previously, both to Eli and to Alicia: People are after him, and they may try to destroy the Governor one way or another. It may be best suited for Alicia to flee the situation in terms of her professional career … but will she really be able to.
While we will lament this episode for starting somewhat slow, we have to give it credit for what was an electric final five minutes or so. A great way to close this chapter, and set the stage for what comes next. Grade: B+.
