TV Romances: ‘Longmire’s Walt & Vic, ‘Once Upon a Time’s’ Captain Swan, Swan Queen among reader favorites

TV Romances -Over the course of the past week, we’ve had a rather-fun time chronicling some of the most romantic moments, couples, and hopeful couples as a pat of our TV Romances series. In addition to making some of our own choices clear, we had CarterMatt readers do much of the same thing! Tens of thousands of votes were cast, and we’ve got for you on this wonderful Valentine’s Day the results across the four categories.

What we’ve come to learn through this is that viewers love “Once Upon a Time” regardless of whatever ‘ship you’re talking about, and also that the Olicity pairing is about as popular as it has ever been despite the two already being together.

Favorite Couple – Hook and Emma, “Once Upon a Time.” It’s no real surprise here that Captain Swan fans came out and voted bit. It was really only a race between them and Jamie / Claire Fraser from “Outlander,” with the Savior and the Pirate winning in decisive fashion. (This is for couples that have been shown prominently on TV.)

Favorite Prospective Couple – Walt and Vic, “Longmire.” We weren’t sure that the Netflix series would take this one given the heavy competition here, but it emerged as champion with 45% of the vote. In second place was Lexa and Clarke from “The 100” with 35%. We’re excited to see if Walt / Vic is a pairing explored further in season 5! (For those who missed the category, “prospective” referred to characters who have shown evidence that a romance could be coming down the road.)

Favorite Dream Couple – Regina and Emma, “Once Upon a Time.” There’s a reason why there’s such division online as to who Emma should be with romantically; both the Captain Swan and Swan Queen fandoms are huge. With 55% the one-time Evil Queen and Emma overtook Liz & Red from “The Blacklist” with 37%. (Here, “dream couples” referred to characters viewers want to see together, though there’s not a ton of evidence on TV that it will happen.)

Update: Since we’re getting some questions regarding the phrasing here, we figured it’d be best to clarify somewhat. Being categorized in the “dream couples” isn’t meant to be though of as lesser in any way. As we explained in the original piece, having something happen on TV doesn’t invalidate fan passion. All ‘ships are equally important, and that’s how we explained that there and we’ve explained it on the site for years. We’d be putting the explanation for it above in this article regardless of who was declared the winners. It’s just a way for readers to know the distinction why didn’t see and/or vote the first time.

Most Romantic Moment – Oliver and Felicity sleep together, “Arrow.” This one wasn’t even close. With over 75% of the vote, nobody even touched this key season 3 scene.
