When you are a show like “Blue Bloods” that spends much of your time filming in New York City, Whoopi Goldberg is one of those guest stars you just have to get. She’s iconic to the city, she’s great at doing one-off roles, and she brings such a different energy to almost everything that she does.
With that, we’re glad to say officially that Whoopi will be heading to the upcoming February 26 installment of the CBS drama in the role of Regina Thomas, a woman in the City Council who could pose some problems for Frank Reagan in a huge way. Take a look at the synopsis below if you’re interested in other insight:
“Linda asks Danny and Baez to help her co-worker who is having trouble with her angry ex-husband. Also, Erin must figure out how to handle her former mentor, a judge who has been handing down unfair sentences since the recent death of his wife; and Frank goes head-to-head with an outspoken City Council Speaker (Whoopi Goldberg) who publicly voices her disapproval of the NYPD’s ‘broken windows’ policy.”
Obviously, there is a lot going on here beyond just Whoopi, and we are very much thrilled to be seeing that there is a storyline coming up that will give Linda something further to do and a little bit of action. For much of the season so far, we’ve primarily seen her only shine when dealing with some of the aftereffects of the shooting at the end of last season. It’s always nice when the formula is shaken up in some way.
